Before the first ISBN requests, a System administrator enters the details of the publisher once. The settings are on the Publisher and ISBN tab of the Administration → Site settings screen. All changes are saved with the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Publisher certificate

  1. On the Publisher certificate card, type the certificate number into the Certificate no. field.
  2. In Valid until, enter the expiry date of the certificate.

The certificate is issued by the General Directorate of Copyright (Telif Hakları Genel Müdürlüğü) and is renewed every four years. A request cannot be sent for approval without a certificate number or while the certificate has expired. The card shows for how many more days the certificate is valid.

Ministry officers

The Ministry officers list holds the JournTech accounts of the people who act for the institution in the system of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

  1. With Add person, find the person by name or e-mail address.
  2. Add the person to the list and save the settings.

When people are listed, only they record that the application was sent, that the Ministry returned it, and the ISBN that came back. Only they can start filling the form with the extension too. While the list is empty, everyone who handles ISBN requests records these steps.

A listed person must have the permission to handle ISBN requests, for example through the Production coordinator role. The list holds at most 20 people. Each officer must also have an approved record as an authorised person in the Ministry's system. If the JournTech account of an officer is closed, the system administrators get a reminder.

Printers

  1. On the Printers card, press Add printer.
  2. Fill in Printer’s name, Certificate no. and Place.

The first printer in the list is filled in on new requests for printed books. A request for a printed book cannot be sent for approval without the printer's certificate number. You can add at most 30 printers.

While the One copy for the ISBN agency switch is on, the legal deposit (derleme) of a printed book also tracks one copy sent to Türkiye's ISBN agency. The Reminders card sets the reminder days, and lists of days are separated with commas. While Weekly digest is on, an e-mail with the number of upcoming and overdue tasks goes out on Mondays. All reminders are listed in ISBN Reminders.

ISBN range message

The ISBN range message section at the bottom of the tab shows the status of the range message of the International ISBN Agency, its file of ISBN ranges. The file is refreshed once a week. It decides whether a number belongs to Türkiye and where its hyphens go. If it has not been fetched yet, only Türkiye's prefixes are checked, and the copyright page and the barcode show the ISBN without hyphens.

If the file has not been refreshed for more than three weeks, the section shows a warning, and the system administrators get an operations alert every day. Meanwhile, numbers the file does not know are saved with a warning and shown without hyphens. Check that the server can reach www.isbn-international.org. Once the file is refreshed, the warning goes away.
