The Approve button is missing on an ISBN request

Causes related to the four-eyes principle, the request's status and the role when a publishing board member cannot see the Approve button on an ISBN request.

The Approve button appears only to people with the Publishing board role, and only on a request that is awaiting approval. Check the causes below in order.

You prepared or edited the request

Whoever prepared the request, edited it since the last approval, took it back to draft or sent it for approval cannot approve the same request. In that case the Send back button appears, the approve button does not, and a note gives the reason. Another member of the publishing board gives the approval. The reasoning behind the rule is in Four-Eyes Principle.

The request is not awaiting approval

If the request was taken back to draft or has been approved, the button is hidden. The status of the request is shown in the page header.

You do not have the role

The System administrator role does not carry the approval permission. An administrator who sits on the board is also given the Publishing board role. The steps for granting a role are in Granting and Revoking Roles.
