Once the ISBN is assigned, the request's Printings and legal deposit card tracks the legal deposit (derleme) steps of each printing. Entering the print date starts the 15-day legal deposit period (Law No. 6279 on legal deposit). The card shows the deadline for each step.

  1. On the printing's card, enter the day the book was printed in Print date.
  2. Press Save printing.

The request becomes Printed, and the card shows the legal deposit deadline. The print date cannot be in the future.

Bandrol

Printed books are distributed with a bandrol, the banderole sticker that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issues for each copy. The bandrol goes on the copies after printing and before shipment, and the Ministry issues bandrols within 10 business days.

  • With Required selected, fill in Bandrol application date and Bandrols received on.
  • If free distribution was declared in the bandrol application, select Free distribution declared.
  • For the exceptions listed in the regulation, select Exempt.

Deposit copies

Six copies with bandrols are delivered to the Istanbul Legal Deposit Office (İstanbul Derleme Müdürlüğü) in Istanbul, and to the provincial public library (il halk kütüphanesi) in other provinces.

  1. Enter the date you sent them in Copies sent on.
  2. Under Delivered to, select İstanbul Derleme Müdürlüğü or Provincial public library. If you selected the provincial public library, fill in Name of the library.
  3. Upload the receipt in Deposit office receipt.

If you upload a new document, it replaces the old one, and the old document is deleted.

Electronic copy and other steps

  • The electronic copy of a printed book is also uploaded within 15 days to EYDeS, the electronic legal deposit system of the National Library (Milli Kütüphane), without a password or copy protection. Enter the upload date in Uploaded to EYDeS on and upload the EYDeS confirmation document.
  • EYDeS does not use e-Devlet (Türkiye's e-government gateway). You log in with the e-mail address and password of your EYDeS account. EYDeS has no bulk upload.
  • In Copy sent to the ISBN agency on, enter the date of the copy sent to the ISBN agency. This step can be switched off in Site settings.
  • For a reprint, enter the date of the "Basım sonrası işlemler" (post-print procedures) record in the Ministry's system in Post-print record in the Ministry’s system on.

For e-books, legal deposit is through EYDeS only. For an electronic publication, the card is called Publication and EYDeS, and you enter the Publication date instead of a print date. An electronic publication takes no deposit office receipt, only the EYDeS document.

When every step is ticked, the printing is complete and the request becomes Deposit complete. The fine for missing legal deposit is charged for each copy, and its amount is revalued every year. The amount announced for 2026 is 11,500 TL. Paying the fine does not remove the legal deposit obligation.

Reprints

A reprint with unchanged content keeps the same ISBN and has its own legal deposit.

  1. Press Add printing at the top of the card.
  2. Enter the planned print date and the print run.
  3. Press Add printing in the dialog.

Before you add a reprint, the print date of the previous printing must be entered. A reprint added by mistake is removed with Remove printing, as long as no print date has been entered for it. For a new edition with changed content, open a new ISBN request.
