Users and Roles

Inviting users, managing accounts, and granting and revoking roles.

Permission needed
See user accounts, Create, disable and verify user accounts, Grant and revoke roles

Accounts and roles are managed on the Administration → Users & roles screen. From there the system administrator invites users, verifies e-mail addresses, issues password links, unlocks accounts or disables them. Every account starts with the Registered researcher role.

Editorial roles are granted for a single journal or for the whole platform, with an end date if you want one. You see the permissions each role contains on the Roles & permissions guide screen and on the role pages of this help. The server refuses every action that a role does not contain.

Role and account changes are written to the audit log. The system administrator cannot issue final decisions on submissions or approve ISBN requests. These rules are explained in Separation of Duties and Four-Eyes Principle.
