Troubleshooting
An editor cannot see their journal's submissions
If an editor cannot see their journal's submissions in the queue, checking the role's scope and end date, the e-mail verification and two-factor authentication.
The editor queue shows only the submissions that the editor's role covers. On the Administration → Users & roles screen, open the editor's page and check the following in order.
The role was granted for another journal
On the Roles & scopes card, look at which journal is named next to the editor role. A role granted for a single journal shows only that journal's submissions. If the role was granted for the wrong journal, grant a new role for the right journal and remove the old one.
The submission does not belong to a journal
Books, chapters and other submissions without a journal are seen only by editors whose role covers the whole platform. If the editor is to work on these submissions, grant the role with the Whole platform scope. The editor's side is described in Book submissions do not appear in the queue.
The role has expired
If an end date is shown next to the role and that date has passed, the role does not work. First remove the expired role, then grant the role again with a new end date or with no end date.
The e-mail address is not verified
If the account's status is Awaiting verification, its roles do not work. Once the e-mail address is verified, the editor queue opens. The ways to verify the address are in A user did not receive the verification e-mail.
Two-factor authentication is not set up
If the Mandatory two-factor authentication for privileged roles flag is on, editor roles work only on accounts that have two-factor authentication turned on. If the Two-factor authentication row on the Account card says Off, ask the editor to set it up. The rule is explained in Requiring Two-Factor Authentication.
The editor is an author of the submission
Editors do not see the submissions they are an author of in the queue. Another editor handles such a submission. The rules of the queue are in Editor Queue.
