The Institutional content → Menus screen edits the header menu and the footer links of the public site. There is a separate menu for each location and each language.

Location and language

The Header menu and Footer tabs at the top of the screen select the location, and the Türkçe (Turkish) and English buttons next to them select the language. If there is no menu for the selected location and language, the screen shows the Create menu button. If the other language has a menu, a button that copies it appears too.

The card on the left shows the links of the menu. Each link's row has these buttons.

  • Edit opens the link's fields, and Done closes them.
  • The Sub-link button with the plus icon adds a link under it.
  • The Remove link button with the bin icon removes the link from the menu.

You order the links by dragging their handles or with the up and down arrows. A link has these fields.

Field What to enter
Label The name shown in the menu (required)
Target type Site section, Page, Policy, Guide, Category or Web address
Target The site section, page, category or address of the chosen type
Open in a new tab Whether the link opens in a new tab

Other parts

  • While the Use this menu on the public site switch is off, the public site shows the default links for this location.
  • The Preview card on the right also shows the unsaved state of the menu.
  • Delete menu in the card's Actions menu deletes the menu. Deleting asks for a reason, and the site returns to the default links for that location and language.
  • Save menu saves the changes.

Rules of the screen

  • A menu can be at most three levels deep.
  • A web address must start with https:// or /.
  • You cannot create a second menu for the same location and language.
  • A link to an unpublished page, policy or guide stays hidden on the site until the page is published. Saving shows a warning for these links.
  • A link to an inactive category, or to a category hidden on the public site, does not show on the site either.
  • The sub-links of a hidden link are hidden too.
  • For a page, policy or guide, the Target field offers every record of that type. If a type has more than 1,000 records, the field suggests the 1,000 most recently changed ones and a note on the screen says so. Type the address (slug) of any other record in the field yourself.
  • The public site caches menus for up to 20 seconds.
