The Institutional content → Banners screen manages the showcase area of the home page. Banners appear on the home page in the order of the list.

List

Each row shows the banner's image, title, subtitle, button text, link and display window. The badge next to the title gives the banner's state.

State Meaning
Live The banner is on and inside its display window, and it shows on the home page
Off The banner is off and does not show on the home page
Scheduled The banner is on, but its display window has not started yet
Expired The banner is on, but its display window has ended

You change the order by dragging a banner by its handle or with the up and down arrows. The new order is saved at once.

Buttons and row actions

  • New banner opens the banner dialog.
  • Deleted lists the deleted banners. Restore brings a banner back switched off.
  • The row's Actions menu holds Edit, Go live, Take offline and Delete.

Switching a banner on or off and deleting a live banner need the publish permission.

Rules of the screen

  • The end time must be after the start time.
  • The image does not show on the home page until it has passed the virus scan. If the image does not pass the scan or cannot be opened, the image field says why and what to do.
  • Banners are not subject to the review approval rule.
  • While you are signed in, you see a change on the home page at once. Visitors who are not signed in may see the home page as it was up to 30 seconds earlier.
  • Deleting needs a reason of at least 5 characters.
  • The list and the Deleted list show at most 1,000 banners. If there are more, a note above the list says so.

The steps are in Adding a Banner.
