How-to
Editing a Menu
Adding links to the header menu and footer of the public site, creating sub-links, ordering links and saving the menu.
You edit the header menu and the footer links of the public site separately for each language. The site uses the menu as you saved it.
Opening a menu
- On the Institutional content → Menus screen, select the Header menu or Footer tab.
- Select the language with the Türkçe (Turkish) or English button.
- If there is no menu for this location and language, press Create menu. You can also start by copying the menu of the other language.
Adding a link
- Press Add link. The fields of the new link open.
- In Label, enter the name to show in the menu.
- Select the type of the link in the Target type list.
- In Target, select the page, site section or category. For a web address, enter an
address that starts with
https://or/. - To open the link in a new tab, tick Open in a new tab.
- Press Done to close the fields.
To add a link under another link, press the Sub-link button with the plus icon on its row. A menu can be at most three levels deep. On the public site, a link with child links has a button next to it. The button opens the child links, and the Esc key closes them.
Ordering and saving
- Order the links by dragging their handles or with the up and down arrows.
- Check how the menu looks on the Preview card on the right.
- Press Save menu.
If a link leads to an unpublished page, a warning appears after saving. That link stays hidden on the site until the page is published. Save before you switch to the menu of another language or location. Otherwise the panel warns you that your changes will be lost.
Switching a menu off
If you switch off Use this menu on the public site, the public site shows the default links for this location and language. The menu itself is not deleted and is used again when you switch it back on.
If a link does not show on the site, see A menu link does not show on the site.
