How-to
Managing Your Profile and Privacy
Updating your identity details and preferences on the My profile page, accepting the privacy notice and opening a personal data request.
You manage your profile and your personal data preferences on the My profile page. Your identity details are on the Profile tab. The tasks related to KVKK (Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law) are done on the Privacy & KVKK tab.
Profile details
- Open My profile from the user menu.
- In the Identity section, enter your name, academic title, ORCID iD, institution and short bio.
- In the Preferences section, select the language in the Interface and e-mail language field and set your newsletter preference.
- Press Save.
Your identity details are used on submissions, reviewer invitations and correspondence. The submission wizard adds you as the first author with these details. The Interface and e-mail language choice sets the language of the panel and of the e-mails sent to you.
The number you enter in the ORCID iD field stays in your profile as information and does not enable sign-in. To sign in with ORCID, link your account with the steps in Signing in with ORCID. The steps for changing your e-mail address are in Changing Your E-mail Address. The Reviewer pool section is described in Joining the Reviewer Pool.
Accepting the privacy notice
The Privacy notice and consent card shows which version of the privacy notice you accepted and when. If the notice has been updated, a marker appears next to the name of the Privacy & KVKK tab and a warning appears on the card.
- Open the Privacy & KVKK tab.
- Read the current notice with the Read the privacy notice link.
- Press I have read the current notice and accept it.
Personal data requests
Under KVKK (Law No. 6698), you can ask for a copy, a correction or the deletion of your data.
- On the Privacy & KVKK tab, go to the Personal data requests card.
- From the Request type list, select A copy of my data, Correction of my data or Deletion of my account and data.
- Describe your request briefly in the Details field. For correction and deletion requests, the description must be at least 5 characters long.
- Press Send request.
Your request appears with its status in the My requests list. The data controller reviews requests with legal retention duties in mind and writes the outcome in the same list. If you already have a request of the same type in progress, you cannot open a new one.
If a deletion request is approved, your account is anonymised and you can no longer sign in. The authorship details in published works and the records that must be kept by law are retained.
