A missing category blocks the release of a book

Choosing a category, or releasing the work as a draft, when a missing category blocks the release of a book with immediate publication.

A book needs at least one category in the catalogue. If no category is selected while Publish immediately on release is on, the What blocks the release list says that the book needs at least one category. You fix this in one of two ways.

Choosing a category

On the Release settings card, select at least one category in Categories.
Press Save.
Check again with the Check button.

Releasing as a draft

Switch off Publish immediately on release, or select Draft in the release dialog. The record is created in the catalogue as a draft. A catalog editor adds the category and publishes the record.
