I made a wrong decision

Explaining the situation to the author when a final decision cannot be undone, and what to watch for in later decisions.

Decisions cannot be undone or changed. Every decision is stored with the person, the time and the rationale, and it is written to the audit log.

If the author needs an explanation, write to them on the Messages tab of the submission with the Message to the author option. The steps are in Messaging the Author.

After a revision decision

After a revision decision, the submission returns to the decision stage when the author submits the revision. You can make a new decision then. The steps are in Starting a New Round After a Revision.

Future decisions

Before you decide, read the outcome text in the confirmation dialog carefully. The text says what the decision will close and what will go to the author.
