Feature flags are on the Administration → Site settings → Features tab. When you change a flag, the change takes effect at once without saving and is written to the audit log. The screen asks for confirmation when you turn a flag off and when you turn the Mandatory two-factor authentication for privileged roles flag on. Under each flag, its code, its default value and the time of its last change are shown.

Flags

Flag Default Effect
New account registration On When off, the registration page does not open new accounts. Accounts can still be opened by invitation. The option of institutional sign-in to open accounts is not affected by this flag either.
New submissions On When off, authors cannot start new submissions. Submissions in progress continue.
Newsletter sign-up (public site) On When off, the newsletter sign-up form on the public site does not work.
Contact form On When off, the contact form on the public site does not work.
File uploads On When off, no file can be uploaded from any screen. Files that are already uploaded still open.
OAI-PMH endpoint (/oai) On When off, the /oai address does not answer and external indexes cannot harvest the metadata.
Crossref XML export On When off, Crossref XML cannot be downloaded from the record screen. Automatic DOI registration does not depend on this flag.
Mandatory two-factor authentication for privileged roles Off When on, administrator and editor roles work only on accounts with two-factor authentication turned on.
Reading counts and most-read lists On Shows reading counts and most-read lists on the public site. When off, none of them appear.
Show TR Dizin data Off When on, the journal record, citation counts and author links read from the open data of TR Dizin (Türkiye's national journal index) appear.
Help pages open to everyone On When off, only signed-in users see the help pages.

File uploads

While there is a storage problem, turn the File uploads flag off until the problem is fixed. The symptoms and the steps are in File uploads fail.

Mandatory two-factor authentication

Before you turn the flag on, set up your own two-factor authentication and tell the users in these roles. The roles covered and the setup are in Requiring Two-Factor Authentication.

Reading counts

While the flag is on, view and download counts appear on the publication page. The home page and the journal page have a most-read list for the last 12 months, and publication lists can be sorted by most read. The counts leave out bots and repeats on the same day. IP addresses are not kept. If the counts are lower than expected, see Reading counts are missing or look too low.

Crossref XML

While the Crossref XML export flag is off, the XML download on the record screen does not work. The download itself is described in Downloading Crossref XML, and automatic deposits in Configuring Automatic DOI Registration.

TR Dizin data

While the flag is on, the server reads the open data of TR Dizin several times a day. The journals' TR Dizin records are found by ISSN, the articles' TR Dizin citation counts by DOI and the authors' TR Dizin profiles by ORCID. The citation count appears on the article page and the TR Dizin link on the author page. In journal management, the TR Dizin tab holds the journal's record. The server must be able to reach search.trdizin.gov.tr.

Help pages

While the Help pages open to everyone flag is off, a visitor who opens a help page is sent to the sign-in page. After signing in, the visitor returns to the same help page. Search engines never index the help pages.
