Setting Search Engine and Sharing Defaults
Setting the default description and share image that pages without a description or image of their own give to search engines and social media.
The Search engines and sharing card on the General tab sets the defaults for pages that have no description or image of their own, such as the home page, category pages and list pages. Publication and news pages keep using their own abstracts and covers.
- On the Administration → Site settings screen, open the General tab.
- On the Search engines and sharing card, fill in the Turkish and English Default description fields.
- In the Default share image section, select one of the uploaded images or upload a new image.
- Press Save at the bottom of the page.
Default description
The description is plain text and can be at most 300 characters in each language. The pages of each language use only the description in that language. Pages in a language you leave empty give no description.
Share image
When a link to the site is shared on social media, this image appears in the preview. The recommended size is 1200 × 630 pixels. The image can be PNG, JPG or WebP and must be 10 MB or smaller. An image you upload is selected at once and goes through the virus scan. Until the scan is done, a note appears in place of the preview. If the image does not pass the scan, the note says why and what to do.
If no image is selected, the site logo is used, and if no logo is selected either, the JournTech mark is used. To remove the selected image, press Remove the image (use the logo). If the selected image did not pass the virus scan or was deleted, the settings are not saved, and the warning appears under this section.
