How-to Changed in this version
Setting the Institutional Identity and Logo
Setting the site's name, the publisher details, the theme colours, the logo, the tab icon, the contact details and the KVKK privacy notice version on the General tab.
The site's identity details are on the General tab of the Administration → Site settings screen. After filling in the fields, press Save at the bottom of the page. Every saved change is written to the audit log.
Institutional identity
The Institutional identity card has these fields.
- Site name is required. It appears in the site's header and footer and in the page title on the browser tab. The site information given to search engines, the news feed (RSS) and all e-mails use this name too. If no name has been saved, the name given at installation appears.
- Tagline appears on the home page and in the footer and is written separately in Turkish and English.
- Publisher name is used in citations and in the Crossref output.
- Place of publication appears in the Crossref output and on the ISBN copyright page.
- Current privacy notice (KVKK) version holds the version of the privacy notice under KVKK (Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law) that users must accept.
- KVKK notice page is the short name of the privacy notice's page under Policies, for example
gizlilik-kvkk. The registration form, the sign-in screens, the privacy tab and the contact form link to it. If the field is empty, the links go to the policies list.
The version does not change by itself. When you update the privacy notice, enter the new version in this field. Once the version changes, users see a warning and an accept button on the My profile → Privacy & KVKK tab so that they can accept the new text.
Theme colours
- On the Theme colours card, enter a hexadecimal colour code in the Primary colour and Accent colour (open access) fields, or use the colour picker next to them.
- Press Save.
A colour code is written in the form #2643d6. The colours you choose are used on the public site and in the panel. The
system sets the colour of the text on these colours to a readable contrast automatically.
Site logo
- In the Site logo section of the Theme colours card, select one of the Uploaded logos or upload a new image.
- If the lettering of your logo cannot be read on a dark background, select a light version of the logo in the Dark theme logo section.
- Press Save.
An image you upload is selected at once and goes through the virus scan. While the scan runs, a note stands in place of the preview. The preview appears when the scan is done. If the image does not pass the scan, the note says why and what to do. The other images in the list can be selected once they have passed the scan. If no logo is selected, the JournTech logo is used. To remove the selected logo, press Use the JournTech logo. If no dark theme logo is selected, the site logo appears in the dark theme too. This section appears only while a site logo is selected.
If the selected image did not pass the virus scan, was deleted or is not an image, the settings are not saved. The warning appears under the picker of that image. An image that is still being scanned can be saved, and it appears on the site once the scan is done.
Tab icon
The tab icon (favicon) is the small image shown on the browser tab, in bookmarks and on a shortcut added to the home screen of a phone.
- In the Tab icon (favicon) section of the Theme colours card, select one of the Uploaded images or upload a new image.
- Press Save.
A square image of at least 192 × 192 pixels gives the best result. A wide logo with lettering cannot be read on a tab, so choose an image with only the emblem or the initial of your logo. An image that is not square is fitted into a square without being distorted, with space left at its edges. Uploading and the virus scan work as for the logo. The icon is used on every page of the public site and in the panel. A page of the public site that is already open shows the new icon when it is loaded again. If no icon is selected, the JournTech icon is used. To remove the selected icon, press Use the JournTech icon.
Contact details and social media
The Contact details card has the E-mail and Phone fields and the Turkish and English Address fields. In the Social media links section, enter the full addresses of your LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook pages. The links you fill in appear in the site's footer.
The Search engines and sharing card on the same tab is explained in Setting Search Engine and Sharing Defaults.
