The Peer review tab defines the review processes that the press's books go through before publication. Each process is described with the questions of DOAB's PRISM form. Book and chapter records select the process the record went through from this list.

DOAB accepts only books that independent external reviewers reviewed before publication, and it asks for the process to be stated on the press's website. The processes you save are published on the Peer review page of the public site and on each book's own page. This page opens only while at least one process is saved.

Adding a process

  1. On the Administration → Site settings screen, open the Peer review tab.
  2. Press Add a process.
  3. Fill in the Turkish and English Process name fields.
  4. Answer the Review object, Reviewer type, Anonymity, Review stage and Decision to publish questions.
  5. If you like, enter the minimum number of reviewers who review a book in the Number of reviewers field.
  6. If the review reports are published with the book, turn on the Review comments published switch.
  7. In the Turkish and English Description fields, describe how the process works, how the reviewers are chosen and how the decision is made.
  8. Press Save.

A new process starts with the values DOAB asks for. These values are the pre-publication stage, double-anonymised review and an external reviewer. DOAB receives the English name of the process. Separate the paragraphs of the description with an empty line.

The note under the title of each process shows whether the DOAB requirement is met. DOAB requires the review to take place before publication and by an external reviewer.

DOAB PRISM ID

After you define the process in DOAB, paste the ID that DOAB gives into the DOAB PRISM id field exactly as it is. The ID is added to the books in the DOAB export. You see whether the books are ready for DOAB on the DOAB readiness screen. Selecting the process for a book is described in Preparing a Book for DOAB, and the screen in DOAB Readiness.

Rules for processes

  • You can define at most 20 processes.
  • The process name must be written in at least one language.
  • At least one option must be ticked for the Review object and Reviewer type questions.
  • The number of reviewers can be between 1 and 10.
  • The description can be at most 4000 characters in each language.

You can remove a process with the Remove process button. If the removed process is selected on a book, you have to select another process when you save that book's details.
