I noticed a mistake in a submission I sent

What to do when you notice a mistake in the details or the files of a submission you sent.

In the panel
Submission Page

The moment you submit, the submission's details, authors, declarations and files are locked. For this reason you cannot make the correction yourself.

  1. Open the submission's Messages tab.
  2. Describe the mistake and the correct version clearly and send your message to the editors. The steps are in Messaging the Editors.

If the editor decides that a correction is needed, they ask you for missing documents. The submission then becomes editable again, and you make the correction with the steps in Supplying Missing Documents. When a revision is requested, you also upload a new anonymous manuscript and update the title and the abstract.

What you can change in each status is described in Submission Rules.
