Troubleshooting
Check the source gives an error
What to do when Check the source says the repository cannot be reached, the address is not an OAI-PMH service or robots.txt does not allow it.
When Check the source cannot read the repository's identity, formats and sets, the reason appears under OAI-PMH address. The harvest can only be switched on with an address whose check succeeded. Follow the section below that matches the message under the field.
The address cannot be reached
If the repository did not answer, or the check did not finish within a minute, the message says the address cannot be reached.
- Check that the address is typed correctly. It starts with
https://orhttp://and contains no question mark or parameters. - Open the address in a browser and add
?verb=Identifyat its end. If the repository answers, the page shows its name. - If the browser gets an answer but the check still cannot reach the repository, the JournTech server cannot reach it. Ask your IT department to let the JournTech server connect to the repository's address.
- If the repository is busy at the moment, try again a little later.
The address is not an OAI-PMH service
If the address answered but the answer is not an OAI-PMH answer, the message says the address is not an OAI-PMH
service. This mostly happens when the repository's home page or search page was entered. In DSpace 7 and later the
OAI-PMH address ends in /server/oai/request, in older versions usually in /oai/request. Ask the repository's
administrator for the right address.
robots.txt does not allow it
If the repository's robots.txt forbids reading the OAI-PMH address, JournTech does not read the repository. Ask the repository's administrator to open the OAI-PMH address in robots.txt. Once they have, check the source again.
The address has not been checked yet
If saving with Harvest on switched on says the address has not been checked yet, the address changed after the last check. Press Check the source and save again when the check is done.
